Flexibility
As 2019 drew to a close, no one could anticipate what the new year would bring. From the global pandemic to a record hurricane season, Piedmont Technical College has persevered like the palm tree that bends in a raging wind.
Adaptability has been critical in keeping the college open virtually throughout a period of quarantine as well as a cautious and socially distanced return to campus. Agile leadership enabled rapid conversion to online instruction and flexible options for completing labs and clinical requirements.
Instructor Inspires Interest, Creativity
Some might suggest that Piedmont Technical College Psychology Instructor Meredith Brown bribes her students in exchange for their class participation. They would be wrong. It’s actually similar to a psychological method called operant conditioning, which is used to stimulate desired behaviors using rewards and punishments. Her students study it as part of the curriculum, and it’s also an effective way to motivate them.
Celebrating our Graduates
At PTC, we know celebrating graduation is very important to our students, and it is important to us. We look forward to celebrating their accomplishments in person, in a traditional graduation ceremony. In the meantime, we've spent this year celebrating virtually. Celebrate with us through a special message from Dr. Ray Brooks, PTC president, and video messages honoring our candidates for graduation. We are so proud of what they’ve accomplished!
Delivering Flexibility
This year, our students embraced flexibility as they adapted to modified course delivery. To ensure success, faculty and staff worked hard to give those students the tools they needed. And the college continued to create new partnerships that will provided new opportunities for current and future students.
Take a Tour
Prospective students in the area who are on a quest to tour Piedmont Technical College campuses and facilities were given a new outlet for exploring their opportunities this fall. They now can take a virtual tour online to check out the classrooms, labs and other workspaces featured on campus. New locations are rolling out regularly, but here are a few examples.
